The Ultimate Guide To Montreal Grand Prix Weekend 2018

The Breakdown:

The F1 Canadian Grand Prix is one of two Grand Prix’s in North America (the other being Austin, Texas) and Montreal plays host to the international event that attracts over half a million visitors every early June. This year Montreal Grand Prix weekend 2018 will take place June 8th-10th.

Why Experience Montreal Grand Prix Weekend 2018?

The Canadian Grand Prix is on par with the Super Bowl for Montreal. At this point, it’s pretty much considered a holiday in Montreal. It brings F1 race fans to town and big time party goers from all over the world.

Montreal Grand Prix Weekend 2018

This is the most exclusive and expensive weekend in Montreal; however, with the right connections, it can be the best. We’ll make sure you don’t crash and burn!

Is Grand Prix Right For You?

Pairing the biggest weekend in Montreal with your bachelor party can either be a recipe for success or disaster. Because of high demand, prices are significantly higher than any other weekend. Montreal Grand Prix weekend is not for the price sensitive.

If price is less of a concern, Grand Prix will take your bachelor party to a whole new level. The atmosphere is like no other; clubs expand, major streets are closed off to traffic and celebrities are abound. This weekend is often less about the race and more about the parties. Large groups must be mindful that venues require purchase commitments during this weekend.

Most importantly, here’s what to do, where to eat, and where to party during Montreal’s Grand Prix weekend 2018:

What To Do?

The Race

Of course, the main highlight of the weekend is the race that takes place on Sunday afternoon. If you want, you can go on Friday and Saturday, to watch the practice runs and prelims. However, it’s a pain to get to the racetrack with the traffic. We’re not going to sugarcoat this: be ready to spend if you want to go to the race. The cheapest ticket you can find with a decent view of the track will cost you $450, but if you want to experience the race the right way, ball out on a $7,000 hospitality package. Most of time, it doesn’t matter though because our clients get too drunk or too hungover to even go.

Legs And Eggs

With so much going on during Grand Prix weekend, sometimes it is better to just stay at your house (Don’t stay at a hotel during Grand Prix, they all require 3 night minimums) and have breakfast made for you by two hot, local French Canadian girls. Always a crowd pleaser, it’s the best way to understand the culture… served fresh by two Montreal hotties.

Topless Beer Pong

Grand Prix weekend is special so why not spice up your usual beer pong game with your buddies by adding some topless girls into the mix? To be honest, there is nothing that bonds a group of guys better than boobs and booze. It’s a great way to pregame all the festivals and parties happening in the city. Get Schwartz’s catered during the event to line your stomach for the damage you’ll do to your body in the coming hours.

Crescent Street Festival

All your cheap, sleazy friends will enjoy this one. There’s no better place to be than Crescent Street on Grand Prix weekend. It becomes the main party area during the race weekend. From Thursday to Saturday, the street is closed off and turns into a free festival. There are DJs, cars, food, and hot girls…Exactly what you need for a successful bachelor party.

Where To Eat?

F1 weekend is the time for Montreal’s food scene to shine. Already considered one of the best in North America, food plays a big factor in doing Grand Prix right. Every restaurant is trying to sell you their biggest bottle of wine, the most oz’s of Kobe Beef, and 10 pound, $350 lobster. It’s not uncommon for most restaurants to make 40% of their annual revenue in this weekend to give you a grasp of the volume and insanity of the weekend. Many of the best restaurants book up in January and February for this weekend, but miracles can happen. Here’s where to eat during Grand Prix weekend:

Supper Clubs

Supper clubs, for those of you who don’t know or don’t have enough money to experience one, are gourmet restaurants that turn into nightclubs with crazy hot, model staff. Again, the theme of the weekend is money so be ready to spend if you hit up a supper club. We recommend Soubois because they always host some of the best parties during Grand Prix, but we have insider access to some unlisted parties. Message us or give us a call today to find out more.

Poutine

There’s no way you can visit Montreal without stuffing your face with poutine. It’s best enjoyed drunk so head to one of Montreal’s poutine institutions such as La Banquise or Poutineville. If you are the classier bunch, head to Aux Pieds Cochon for a more upscale, less drunk (or more, your call.) poutine experience.

Steakhouses

Montreal has some of the best steakhouses in North America. Moishes, named by Forbes as one of the best steakhouses in the world, is a great place to go for a group of guys. La Queue De Cheval is another fantastic option. A bit more upscale than Moishes, but you can’t beat their private dining rooms (perfect for a post dinner girl on girl show) and their cigar lounge. Scotch, cigars, great food… Great way to start a night.

How To Party

Grand prix weekend is so much more than cars going in circles around a racetrack. Most people don’t care about the race anyway, no one can name any of the drivers. However, everyone who comes to town is ready to party. Every club in Montreal hosts some sort of event or party during the weekend and most have something happening Thursday to Sunday (Few people know that Sunday is actually the best night to party because that’s when all the racers and their crews come out) The table minimums for every club is higher this weekend so be ready to get bottles, but don’t feel pressured to hit the clubs, there’s tons of free festivals and events going on. Here’s how to do F1 weekend right:

Bigger Isn’t Always Better

The big flashy parties sound cool, but often times it’s just rich douchebags looking at each other. For example, when we hit the Ferrari party last year, there were a bunch of old dudes and we were wondering where the hot girls were. Sometimes it’s better to be a big fish in a small pond and hit up a club like Rouge where hot, local girls from all over the country are partying. Bring some party girls to get even more attention from the young, impressionable girls.

Day Drinking

Usually, Montreal isn’t the best day partying city like Las Vegas for your bachelor party, but Grand Prix weekend changes the game. Like we mentioned earlier, Crescent street has a huge festival, but so do St. Laurent and Peel Streets. The Peel Paddock, located between St.Catherine and de Maisonneuve (walkable from all our houses), is the best place to day drink during the weekend. There’s also tons of bars built out into the streets and most places turn into good day drinking spots that otherwise would suck any other time of the year.

Best Cigar Lounges In Montreal

Your bachelor party is a time for you and your buddies to get together and bond over trying new things. New city, new food, jello wrestling with strippers… Sometimes though there is nothing better than a familiar vice, a good old fashioned cigar washed down with a strong scotch. It’s something that your girlfriend/wife/mistress wouldn’t approve of, but is always a crowd pleaser with the boys. Here are the best Montreal cigar lounges:

Best Montreal Cigar Lounges

La Casa Del Habano

La Casa Del Habano is where The Most Interesting Man in the World would go if he were to smoke a cigar in Montreal. Located in the heart of downtown, Casa has one of the largest selection of Cubans in North America, bound to put some hair on your shaved chest. It has any type of cigar you could ever want in their walk in humidor. The smoking area has an open floor plan, great for large groups. For the cigar connoisseur, they have Cohiba, Behike, Partagas, Montecristo, and Davidoff on hand. Pair a trip to Casa with a supper club and a lesbian show and you’ll have yourself an unforgettable night.

Best Montreal Cigar Lounges

Chez Alexandre

The combination restaurant and cigar lounge is a great place to kick off the night before heading to one of the great, morally sound institutions Montreal has to offer. Peel Street’s Chez Alexandre’s smoking room is small, a bit like your grandfather’s man cave, but can still accommodate larger groups and is a nice place to have an after dinner drink, cigar, and watch a game on their wide screen TV’s. For the cigar connoisseur, they have Cohiba, Behike, Partagas, Montecristo, and Davidoff on hand.

Best Montreal Cigar Lounges

Stogies Cigar Lounge

Stogies is not your father’s cigar lounge. With its sleek design and outdoor seating overlooking the action on Crescent, Stogies is the perfect spot for a group that enjoys the atmosphere more than the actual smoke. Many locals, including some friendly French Canadian girls, visit the lounge before a night out. For the sake of your night though, whatever you do after, go out here instead of Crescent.

Top 5 Montreal Clubs To Get Laid At

Montreal is known as Canada’s party capital thanks to its incredible nightlife and beautiful women. The first thing every bachelor party asks when they arrive in Montreal is, “Which clubs are the best for picking up girls?” Luckily, we’ve done the dirty work for you and done countless hours of market research to find the best Montreal clubs to get laid at…Your welcome.

Here’s the five best clubs to get laid in Montreal:

1. Rouge

Rouge is the best place to find girls in Montreal on the weekends. Located in the heart of Montreal on Rue St. Laurent, Rouge attracts some of the hottest girls in the city. Be sure to brush up on your French because the crowd tends to skew more French. Although, its notoriously tough to get in with a large group of guys, Rouge is the place to be..and get lucky.

Clubs To Get Laid Montreal

2. Muzique

Going into its 9th year, Muzique is still one of the best clubs in Montreal. Spread out over two rooms, Muzique hosts ladies night on Sundays. It attracts the city’s hottest girls with reduced cover before midnight. You will not be disappointed with the “friendly” locals here.

Club Girls Montreal

3. La Voûte

La Voûte is always a crowd pleaser. One of Montreal’s newest nightlife spots, the club is situated in a former bank vault that has been renovated for clubgoers. Its exclusive so be ready to be a baller. If you’re poppin’ bottles, girls will notice. You can try to be like this group and spend $8,800 a night on Dom P. Good luck!

4. Bord’elle

Eatery by day, nightclub by night, Bord’elle has brought great partys and hot girls back to Old Montreal. Be ready to dress up and look your best or else you won’t get into this exclusive night club. It has burlesque dancers and acrobats flying around so if sparks aren’t flying with a special someone that night, something is wrong with you.. Or you drank whisky.

Clubs To Get Laid Montreal

5. École Privée

Another down and dirty club on St. Laurent, École Privée is one of those places that you would feel old if you are in your mid-20’s. The place is wafting of hormones and mistakes waiting to happen so join in on the fun. Just remember to wrap it up or you might have to make another trip up to Montreal for the paternity test.

Where NOT To Stay For Your Bachelor Party In Montreal

Montreal is a pretty small city compared to Manhattan or Chicago, but it doesn’t mean every neighborhood is well suited for a bachelor party. We’ve been planning bachelors parties for over a decade now and we know how important being well located is to having an epic bachelor party weekend. Being in the perfect place close to all the bars and clubs not only saves you money on Uber rides and the headache of moving a large group of guys around, but lets girls know you’re not cheap (definitely sleazy) douchebags and they will want to come to your pad for an after party.

Here is where NOT to stay for your bachelor party in Montreal.

Anywhere Off Island

There is no way to sugar coat this one, but if you’re staying off the island, you’re a moron. It’s right up there with not getting bottles at the club. You came to party and have an epic weekend in Montreal, not St. Lambert. Besides ruining your weekend and making the bachelor party a huge sausage fest, staying off island becomes ridiculously expensive and a logistical nightmare taking Uber back and forth with 10 guys.

Good rule of thumb is if there is a bridge, burn it.

Where to stay for your Montreal Bachelors Party

Address doesn’t say Montreal? AVOID.

Postal code not in Montreal? AVOID.

If your Airbnb says that it is in Laval, Brossard, St. Lambert, Dorval, Pointe-Claire, or any place not named Montreal, GET A REFUND.

Easiest thing to know is stay DOWNTOWN. However, a lot of the honorable hosts fudge the location of their places. Use this guide to determine if it’s really a good location. Or if you want just give us a call and we will tell you in 10 seconds if it’s worth booking or not.

Where Not To Stay On Island:

Old Montreal

Old Montreal is a great place to stay if you were, for example, a couple in their 80’s taking in the French architecture. Luckily, you’re not. You are a bachelors party. This district of Montreal is EXTREMELY touristy during the day and is considered more family friendly.  Walk around the area before you go to a supper club, fine, but take the party elsewhere.

Old Montreal Boundaries:

-South: St.Lawrence River                           East: Berri Street

-North: St. Antoine Street                           West: McGill Street

Gay Village

If you walk far enough east on St.Catherine, it turns into the gay village and if you walk into the strip clubs in that part of Montreal, you won’t see women stripping. It’s easy to see why this is the wrong area to stay for a bachelor party…

Boutique Hotel

We get groups every year that book a suite or block of rooms at any hotel and end up getting kicked out. Why? Because a lot of hotels, boutique especially, don’t allow bachelor parties. They’re great for a weekend get away with your future ex-wife, but awful for bachelor parties. Don’t worry though, we’ve vetted all hotels that we work with and make sure they are bachelor party friendly. Just use as it chance to scout out places to stay on your return trip to Montreal for your divorce party.

Anywhere Outside Downtown Core

There’s a lot happening in Montreal during the summer…but that brings traffic. The joke in Montreal is that you are always 10 minutes from downtown, but everyone knows that is not the case. There are festivals every weekend that close roads and construction detours all over the city. Who wants to waste hours waiting in traffic when you can be making it rain at Kamasutra within minutes? Unlike other big cities in North America, where it costs a fortune to be anywhere near downtown, in Montreal, you can be centrally located and have it be affordable (Check out what houses we have available)

Worst Montreal Bachelor Party Ideas

Since nobody in Montreal has hosted more bachelor parties than us, we have seen more than our fair share of mistakes. In no particular order, these are the worst Montreal bachelor party ideas:

Inviting the Bride’s Side of the Family

pictureYou are on a bachelor party not a bird-watching trip. Things will get crazy and there will be more than a few lapses in judgment. While the groom might behave himself, the same can’t be said for the rest of the group. Sure, your old college roommate thought the groom would enjoy having “strippers” sent to the room, which he happens to share with the bride’s father. And what if the father of the bride also thinks that’s a good idea? All and all, there are countless combinations of awkward situations that will occur if you invite members of the bride’s family.

Not Going to a Montreal Strip Club

pictureMontreal is known for its strip clubs. Bachelor parties love going to strip clubs. Therefore, avoiding strip clubs is one of the worst Montreal bachelor party ideas you can make. Would you go to Italy with a bunch of foodies and stop to eat at McDonald’s? While visiting a strip club is usually out of the way or a money pit, the clubs in Montreal are close by and very affordable. Remember, the bachelor party is a group trip not just for the bachelor.

Not Going Out for a Nice Dinner

pictureI get that some people are trying to come up with some cheap bachelor party ideas, but you should plan at least one nice meal. Montreal is known for its food. As a plus-sized fellow and foodie, I take great offense to groups that come to Montreal and order Domino’s to the room. One of the best parts about traveling is sampling the local cuisine. Even simply going to a steakhouse can create a memorable experience.

Going for a Huge Meal then Straight to a Nightclub

pictureWhile Montreal does have amazing food, make sure you leave some time between dinner and going to the club. It’s best to put the obligatory strip club visit in between dinner and the nightclub. If you don’t, everyone will be stuffed and it’ll make getting intoxicated near impossible. The energy level will be low after a big meal, so we recommend hitting a strip club to get the fire burning again.
