Best Montreal Supper Clubs In 2018

Supper clubs are found in other cities, but nowhere does supper clubs like Montreal. For those of you that have never heard of a Montreal supper club, they are eateries during the evening that turn into full blown nightclubs after dinner is served. They are consistently some of the best places in Montreal to party. How could they not be? With a great mix of delicious food, model hot girls, bottles, and the fact that you don’t even have to leave to go party, it’s no wonder reservations are nearly impossible to get. Luckily, with our connections, you won’t have that problem. Here’s the best Montreal supper clubs to check out in 2018:

Bord’elle

Leading the resurgence of the Old Port, Bord’elle is a great option for a more sophisticated group. Modeled after a 1920’s speakeasy, the food is incredible. We recommend you try their Filet Mignon in a VSOP cognac glaze, but there is nothing we don’t like on the menu. Once the clock strikes midnight, Bord’elle comes alive and the champagne starts flowing. If you head to this club, be prepared for a rowdy time. It is one of the best places to party on Thursday nights and is a go to spot jump off point for our groups that think they can handle 3 massive nights of partying…To them, we say good luck. Bord’elle will give you all you can handle and than some!

Bord'elle Montreal 2018

Soubois

Soubois, French for “Underground Forest”, is the perfect spot for those that care more about the scenery than the food. For starters, the space is unique and looks like you are surrounded by trees. It’s a nice touch, but you didn’t come for the interior design. The food is good, but their very hot waitresses steal the show. Consider it a practice round for you and your buddies to get warmed up talking to locals. Soubois is a solid spot on Friday, but is reliably great on Saturday.

Flyjin

Located down the street from Bord’elle in the Old Port, Flyjin is a smaller, more intimate supper club. Their menu was created by renowned, international chef Antonio Park. The miso black cod is to die for. Unfortunately, this club only works best with groups of 10 or less since anything above that, your group would be 10-20% capacity of the club. What club wants a good portion of their clientele that night to be guys? None. (Of course, we could always tip the scale in your favor if you bring along some party girls..)

Flyjin Montreal 2018

Joverse

This laid back, casual supper club is ideal for larger groups or for guys that don’t want something too fancy. It’s not as pretentious as some of the other supper clubs that were previously mentioned. It’s a great place to party with less crowds and is more relaxed. The crowd tends to skew a bit younger, which means hot, impressionable girls so we generally recommend Joverse for groups that are more budget conscious, but still want to ball out during their time in Montreal.

The Best Montreal Hangover Meals

When you come to Montreal on a bachelor party, your going to follow a pretty straight forward formula: dinner, strip club, go out, after party, repeat. Then comes the next morning and it feels like Pierre the midget is trying to force his way out of your head. Luckily, Montreal knows you came here to party and is ready with a variety of hangover food options. Here’s 6 of our favorite Montreal hangover meals:

Poutine

Anyone that’s ever been to Montreal will tell you that you have to try poutine. We’re not sure what they sprinkle on it, but if you’ve ever had a hangover poutine, you know that feeling when you instantly come back to life. There are hundreds of poutine places all over Montreal, but head to La Banquise, a Montreal institution. Walk across the street to Parc LaFontaine to soak in some sun and if you’re feeling bold, have a beer or two with your meal to really clear that foggy head.

Montreal Hangover

Bagels

Montreal vs. New York bagels… We know every New Yorker that is going to read this will defend their own version, but we don’t care since you’re on our turf. Head to St. Viateur for their bagel sandwiches or be a true Montrealer and get bagels with a tub of cream cheese. This is our personal favorite option since the combination of doughy bread with sweet and salty flavors will have you ready for the next big night out in no time.

Bachelor Party Hangover Montreal

Down And Dirty Brunch

Montreal’s brunch scene might not be as developed as the East Coast, but don’t sleep on several great options. L’Avenue is by far one of our favorites. Although the wait can be an hour or more on the weekend depending on when you arrive, the portions are more than generous (Especially the pancakes) and you’ll have a full grown food baby by the time you leave. Of course, any brunch can be turned into a boozy one, so if that’s what you want, L’Avenue is your best option.

Carb Overload

Carbs are a necessity when it comes to proper hangover recovery and Montreal is not short on carb loading options. Boustan’s is better known for its late night shenanigans, but it is also a great daytime eating spot. The Lebanese fast food restaurant serves up delicious shawarma, kebabs and falafel. If you’re more in the mood for a burger, head down the street to Crescent’s Burger Bar. After a quick scan of the menu, you’ll realize that they have already made the choice for you by offering a Hangover Burger. The burger consists of beef patties, cheese, bacon, poutine, truffle oil, caramelized onions, and for good measure, a fried egg. You can thank us later…

Hangover Burger

Dim Sum

This small portion Chinese brunch has exploded in popularity the last few years and there’s nothing better than greasy dumplings to soak up that remaining booze in your system. You really can’t go wrong with any dim sum restaurant in Chinatown on St. Laurent. Most have plenty of room to accommodate any size group so if your bachelor party consists of foodies, this is the hangover brunch for you.

Brisket And Breasts

When you have a pounding hangover, the last thing you’ll want to do is stand in line and wait for smoked meat. Make your life easier and throw some fun into the mix by having Schwartz’s catered to your house with some topless waitresses serving you. Unlike those 3 shots of tequila after drinking bourbon all night, this is a decision you won’t regret.

Best Boozy Brunch In Montreal

While Montreal’s brunch game is strong, its boozy brunch scene is another story… Chasing after a good boozy brunch is like finding a unicorn, they just don’t exist. Either you have good mimosas (man-mosas if you are one of those guys) or incredible food. Unlike New York or other cities on the East Coast, pairing them together still hasn’t made it this far north.

Luckily, Montreal has some cooler daytime options beyond what you normally would do back home. The bachelor party weekend can be a whirlwind so we recommend choosing at most two of these daytime activities:

Tame Daytime Options

Go-Karting

Every bachelor party needs to get the competitive juices flowing. Going to the go-kart track is a great way to try and bet your way to free drinks from your buddies. There is no greater satisfaction than watching the bachelor wipe out…Hopefully the wedding isn’t next weekend.

Jet Boating

Jet boating is certainly not for every bachelor party, but if you want to quickly cure your hangover by getting splashed in the face by water on the Saint Lawrence River, this is the option for you. You’ll be ready for lunchtime drinks by the time you’re done with jet boating.

Rooftop Drinking

Summertime in Montreal is made for drinking outside. So why not make it scenic and drink on rooftops in Old Montreal? You’ll have a great view of Montreal’s skyline and it’s the best place to day drink. We recommend checking out the rooftop on the William Grey hotel or Terrace Place D’Armes.

Boozy Brunch

Terrasse Place D’Armes

Memorable Daytime Options

Brisket And Breasts

You’re going to visit Schwartz’s for smoked meat anyway so save yourself time and hassle by having it catered to you. Throw in some topless waitresses and lunch just became way more entertaining.

Topless Beer Pong

Once you’ve lined your stomach with smoked meat, have the girls jump into the fun and play beer pong with you and your boys. You’re shot percentage will be worst than Charles Barkley’s three point percentage.

Ultimate Daytime Saturday Itinerary

10 AM: Hangover Cure

You had a crazy Friday night, but your buddies are aggressively waking you up to go jet boating at 9 AM. You’re miserable until the first wave smacks you in the face and you suddenly feel invincible. Bring on day drinking.

12:30 PM: Drinks With A View

You and the boys decide to head to Terrasse Sur L’Auberge to start the day drinking marathon. You switch to vodka sodas at the William Grey and decide that shots are a good idea at Terrasse Place D’Armes.

4 PM: Lunch Is Served

By the time you reach your bachelor pad, the girls and Schwartz’s is waiting for you. The group is so hungry that they don’t even notice the topless girls serving them until later… Lunch will never be the same again.

Boozy Brunch montreal

5 PM: Pre-Game

The guys combined their Brisket And Breasts lunch with topless beer pong to start pre-gaming the night ahead. Let’s just say the girls made sure the guys were nice and buzzed by the time they head to dinner.

7:30 PM: Supper Club

Supper clubs are special to Montreal. The group starts off with a delicious set menu dinner by an acclaimed chef at Sousbois before the lights dim and the bottles come out. The guys had to be dragged out of the club.

Best Bars For Day Drinking In Old Montreal

Old Montreal, also known as the Old Port to locals, is well known to known to your significant other with its French architecture and charming cobblestone streets, but it is surprisingly a great area for a bachelor party to go bar hopping during the day. It has a good mix of different bars from trendy, upscale cocktail lounges to beer and shot dive bars. Here are bars worth checking out for your next day drinking adventure in Old Montreal

Any  Bar With A Terrasse

First and foremost, if you do any day drinking in Montreal and the sun is out, you need to head to a terrasse (Terrasse= Patio). You’ll notice every local is outside trying to soak up as much sun as possible. Pretty much every bar in Old Montreal is open during the day and has a terrasse. While you can’t go wrong with any terrasse in the Old Port, we’d recommend going to Terrasse Nelligan. It offers incredible views of Montreal’s skyline and the nearby St. Lawrence River. Nelligan is a place to see and be seen since the crowd tends to skew towards their mid to late 20’s. If you want an even more upscale experience that attracts hot, local girls, head to Terrasse Bonsecours. During the week, Bonsecours is a more laid back drinking spot, but turns into an open-air party on the weekends. You really can’t go wrong with either of these terrasses.

Day Drinking Montreal

If drinking on a terrasse is not your thing for some odd reason or the weather is terrible, here’s where to go drinking:

SeaSalt & Ceviche Bar

One of the newer bars in Old Montreal, SeaSalt has quickly made an impression in its first two years of operation. The restaurant is huge so it can easily hold your entire bachelor party. The drink menu is unique and is filled with some interesting options. They are known for their sangria, which pairs nicely with any of their seafood options, but especially the ceviche. SeaSalt brings in a DJ on the weekend so it’s the perfect spot to get drinks before heading to dinner.

Day Drinking Old Montreal

Pub St. Paul

If grabbing pitchers of beer sounds more like your scene, this is your bar. Pub St. Paul may seem out of place in Old Montreal, but is a welcomed respite from the continued opening of trendy cocktail lounges. The bar isn’t going to blow you away with its decoration or drink options, but it’s a great place to hang out with your buddies and grab some drinks. It comes complete with pool tables and flatscreen TVs so it’s a solid option to drink at once the bachelor’s alma mater is playing on Saturdays.

Day Drinking Montreal

Les 3 Brasseurs

Yes, we know Les 3 Brasseurs is a chain microbrewery/ restaurant, but if we hadn’t mentioned that, you’d have no idea. The cool thing about Les 3 Brasseurs is that they brew beer specifically for the neighborhood they are located in. In the Old Port, that means that they have a beer dedicated to Old Montreal’s export-import history. Order a beer flight if you want to try a variety of beer offerings. It’s a good place to get annoyingly drunk and have good bar food before stumbling around the city or going to party.

How Do I Get My Bachelor Party Into Joe Beef?

There’s 3 things to remember if you want to get into Joe Beef:

1. Make a reservation very early. We recommend calling at least 2 months in advance.

2. Be under 6 people.

3. If neither of these apply to you, try another restaurant.

Don’t get us wrong, Joe Beef is a great restaurant and the food is delicious, but it’s easy to get caught up in the foodie hype. However, there are some other tremendous fine dining options that are worth eating at too. Here are 3 other comparable restaurants to Joe Beef:

Garde Manger

Located in Old Montreal, Garde Manger is known for their elaborate, constantly evolving chalkboard menu by celebrity chef Chuck Hughes. There are a few items here that are must-haves if they appear on the menu the night you go. To start, try the seafood platter, which is loaded up with shrimp, oysters, scallops, and crab. It’s a perfect starter to share with the whole bachelor party. If you want to stick with the fish theme, order the lobster poutine. The dish is a win-win. You get a delicious meal and can skip the otherwise drunken pilgrimage for underwhelming poutine at La Banquise. If you’re more in the mood for meat, try the braised ribs. The ribs are full of flavor and are already falling off the bone by the time they arrive at your table.

How Do I Get Into Joe Beef

Au Pied De Cochon

If you have any vegetarian or vegan friends on the trip, consider leaving them at home when you head to the Plateau’s trendy Au Pied De Cochon. The restaurant, whose name translates in English to “At The Pig’s Feet”, is considered carnivore heaven and was even one of Anthony Bourdain’s favorite restaurants in Montreal. They are known for their foie gras and pork dishes. The foie gras hamburger is always a hit and is a good way to line the stomach before a big night out. Speaking of alcohol, their wine and cocktail list is extensive. Ask your server which wines pair up with your meal.

How Do I Get Into Joe Beef

Chasse Et Peche

Chasse Et Peche gives Joe Beef a good run for their money. Tucked away on a small side street in Old Montreal, Chasse Et Peche models itself off an old hunting lodge. It’s a place your father’s bachelor party would come to, but with a 21st century take on the cuisine. The restaurant offers interesting starters and entrees. For a starter, we’d recommend trying the braised piglet risotto with foie gras shavings. For an entree, try the Wagyu beef, some of the best in the city.

Montreal Nightclubs Vs. Las Vegas Nightclubs

Montreal and Las Vegas are some of the best cities in North America to have a bachelor party. Each city appeals to a different type of bachelor party. You don’t have to be a party animal to know that Montreal nightclubs are different than Las Vegas nightclubs. Beyond the obvious differences between the two cities such as size and weather, Montreal and Las Vegas each have their respective nightlife strengths and weaknesses. Here’s a look at the differences between Montreal and Las Vegas nightclubs:

Quality

Vegas is known for its nightlife because frankly there is nothing else to do in the middle of desert. It is home to arguably some of the best nightclubs in the world. From 1Oak to Marquee to Hakkasan, it’s easy to find whatever type of club you are looking for in Vegas. However, with this reputation, comes pretentious douchebags and long lines. Montreal’s nightlife, on the other hand, is underrated and often people are surprised at how good Montreal’s nightclubs are. La Voute and Bord’elle are two of the best and within walking distance of each other. Club goers are laid back and French Canadian girls  are very “friendly”.

Montreal Nightclubs

VIP

Montreal has everything that is great about VIP without the show that Vegas has. In Vegas, you have people crowding around your table, slower table service, and you have to pay more money for a better location. Everything about VIP in Vegas is about who can spend more money. Montreal is more relaxed. It’s a city where clubbing is all about getting a table and bottles. If you’re not getting bottle service, you’re doing it wrong. You’ll still enjoy the benefits of VIP like status and location in Montreal with bottles, but there’s no specific reserved VIP section like Vegas.

Montreal Las Vegas VIP

Price

When it comes to costs, Montreal blows Vegas out of the water. It’d be difficult for a bachelor party to spend under a $1,000…just to get their foot in the door in Vegas. You’ll find it hard to get in anywhere with a big group of guys. Montreal is a different story. You can have an epic weekend with a $1,000 budget. Considering a bottle is only $250, going out in Montreal is reasonable. Oh, and we’ll make sure you get in to the best clubs in the city…with a group of hot, young, and impressionable party girls. Sounds a lot better than the sausage fest you’d roll up to the club with in Vegas.

Host Feature: Dirty Mike

Mike, AKA Dirty Mike, has been a host for three years now. The veteran knows Montreal like the back of his hand and always makes sure that his groups are drunk and have seen plenty of T&A before midnight. Today, in honor of Dirty Mike’s birthday, we are doing a special feature on him so you can get to know him better and just like that stripper at Chez Parée, you’ll want to tip him an outrageous amount.

Favorite Drink

Cuba Libre

Favorite Club/Bar

McLean’s Pub. Ask for Stewart and he’ll hook you up with his 10 Liter Beer towers.

Favorite Strip Club

Hands down Kamasutra because of the intimate atmosphere. No seat is a bad seat and the talent is great.

Favorite Place To Eat

Moishes. They have an incredible after 9 PM special menu. You can get an appetizer and entree for $25. You can’t beat that.

Favorite Stripper Activity

Girl On Girl Show. The reactions on every guy’s face is priceless.

Hangover Food Of Choice

Poutine. It’s a classic Montreal food staple that, like a fat girl show, everyone has to try at least one. I’ve seen poutine work wonders and revive those that were struggling from a long night.

Best Hosting Story

I had a crazy group of Marines come to Montreal from California for a boy’s weekend full of debauchery. They were already drunk and rowdy as they got off the plane. One of the guys in the group lost their bag, but replaced it with something more fun. While standing in line waiting for his lost bag, the marine got chatting with a girl who had lost her bag too. The backpacker girl had just gotten back from Thailand and since she lost her bag, she didn’t have any clothes with her. The guys ended up inviting the backpacker girl to their place and needless to say, she became part of the group in more than one way.The guys returned last year because they had so much fun. Those guys were party legends. God bless the United States Marine Corps.

The Worst Value For Your Bachelor Party In Montreal

There are things you can do to enhance your bachelor party…or make it awful. We’ve been planning bachelor parties for far too long so we know what works and what doesn’t. Following up on our post about the best value for your bachelor party, here is the WORST value for your bachelor party in Montreal.

Stack The Day Too Heavy

You guys are a bachelor party, not a school group. There is no reason to plan out every second of the day especially if you go out the night before. You should leave most of your day unplanned. Don’t fill your day with activities that will drain you and leave you tired before going out at night. At most, do one daytime activity such as axe throwing or white water rafting. You’ll thank us later.

Worst Value Bachelor Party

Limos

Limos might have been cool for your senior prom, but not now. Montreal is pretty small and if you stay here, you’ll be set. All of the best bars, clubs, and restaurants will be within walking distance. If, for some reason, you need to go somewhere further, pile everyone into an Uber. Welcome to the 21st Century.

Worst Value Bachelor Party

Not Getting Bottle Service

If you’re not getting bottle service, you might as well not go clubbing. Not getting bottle service is one of the biggest mistakes you can make for your bachelor party.  No matter the size of your bachelor party, having a table is essential. Unlike most cities (Looking at you, Vegas), getting bottle service in Montreal is cost effective. If you don’t get bottle service, you’ll have to fight with everyone else to get to the bar, wait for a drink, and lose your group. Beyond cost, getting bottle service allows for your group to be seen and have a piece of prime real estate in the club. Don’t be an idiot, get bottle service (LINK TO PACKAGES).

Bottle Value Bachelor Party

Going To Schwartz’s

Trying smoked meat in Montreal is a must, but standing in line for 2 hours is a terrible waste of time. There is always a massive line at Schwartz’s and cramming 10 guys in there is nearly impossible. The better option is to get Brisket and Breasts, where you get Schwartz’s smoked meat delivered straight to you piping hot served fresh by topless girls. We have yet to have a disappointed customer.

Five Montreal Restaurants for Gluttons

Montreal is a city of great food. There are a lot of amazing restaurants and delicious dishes, but if you’re a glutton, I would suggest checking out one of these Montreal restaurants.

Best Gastronomy: Au Pied de Cochon

Au Pied de Cochon is somewhat of a legend in Montreal. They have a unique menu of foie gras and other delicacies, but in huge portions. Their particularly Canadian foie gras poutine is probably the most gluttonous meal you can get and is understandably a must-try. This restaurant actually has a defibrillator on site and their staff is trained in CPR. This place should definitely be taken seriously.

Best Cultural Feast: Le Milsa

This place is an all you can eat Brazilian barbecue joint. They have about 10 varieties of meat that they bring around to your table until you regretfully can’t eat anymore. It’s a great place to bring a big group of guys but not so great for vegetarians. Sometimes they bring out some Samba dancers. It’s an all around party for gluttons and you will probably have a hard time leaving this restaurant.

Best All You Can Eat: Poutineville

Let’s start off by saying the obvious: there is a lot of great poutine in Montreal. Everyone has their own take on it – more gravy, bigger cheese curds, crispier french fries – but there’s one place in town that consistently serves amazing, yet classic poutine. Poutineville is the place. They also allow you to create your own personal poutine. But honestly, that’s not the best part. Especially for those masochistic gluttons out there, Tuesdays are now all you can eat poutine nights. This is definitely one of the top things to do in Montreal for a tourist.

Best Casual Stuffing: Rotisserie Romados

Portuguese chicken has been perfected at Romados. Their portions are very generous and, once you get to the chicken under the mountain of delicious french fries, you will understand how chicken is supposed to taste. This family run joint has been around for years and is an institution in and of itself. There is always a line (but you can order ahead) and it’s better to take out your food. On Sundays, you can take the chicken to go and eat it at Tam Tams. Let me tell you, this place is worth it.

Best Hangover Cure: Ruby Rouge

For those of you who have never experienced dim sum before, think Chinese tapas for brunch. As people come around with their carts filled with dumplings and various fried dishes, you get to scoop up anything you want and instantly enjoy it. You can even dare a friend to eat a fried chicken foot or another one of the more exotic dishes. I am at Ruby Rouge every Sunday and, believe me, this is as close to a hangover cure as you’re going to get. You know it’s good when you are one of the only white guys in the place. Also, it’s dirt cheap.

Montreal Eats: Schwartz’s Smoked Meat

When coming into Montreal on a Bachelor Party, you’ll have your fair share of nice meals. Steakhouses are usually a big hit, and so are some of the supper clubs. The only meal of the day that doesn’t get a lot of love is lunch.picture

Upon visiting any new city, it is always a good idea to check out the local institutions. Montreal is famous for having a couple culinary delights: Bagels, Poutine and Smoked Meat. When searching for the best smoked meat in town, it’s well known that Schwartz’s is the best around. Schwartz’s smoked meat could possibly be the best sandwich anywhere in the world!

pictureSince you’ll probably be traveling here on the weekend, you’ll have to endure the usual weekend line, but don’t worry, you could always skip the line and get Briskets and Breasts. Once inside, you’ll be seated at a European-style communal table with other guests. There are lot’s of choices on the menu and you may think of diverting from ordering smoked meat. Stick to the plan. You can eat smoked turkey breast anywhere else. Order the medium sandwich with a pickle, fry and coleslaw on the side and wash it down with a black cherry cola. You’ll understand within the first bite why the line was so long, and why people have been talking so highly about the world famous Schwartz’s.
