Connected Montreal Summer 2018 Recap

Labor Day has come and gone, which means yet another crazy Connected Montreal summer is in the books. 2018 was by far our busiest summer yet. We were sold out every weekend and we swear we almost burnt the town down a few times (Very close call on Grand Prix weekend, but we’ll get to that…) Here are some highlights from this past summer:

Grand Prix Weekend

Grand Prix Weekend is the official unofficial start of summer. Taking place on the first weekend of June, everyone is ready to party hard and girls are extra “friendly”. It’s a weekend that is made for big ballers and those that are ready to flash some cash. We had some new faces and old pals come party with us this year. $18,000 worth of Moet, Veuve, and Dom P each night, hot girls, a sparkler incident that almost went wrong and partying with some of the drivers including Lewis Hamilton on Sunday night were definitely the highlights. The weekend is still a blur to us…We came. We saw. We drank champagne.

Most Booze Consumed

While these guys from Chicago gave this group a good run for their money, nothing tops the $5,000 worth of vodka, whiskey, and tequila that a group from San Francisco ordered. We had it pre-stocked at their house waiting for them upon arrival. We didn’t even mention the $2,000 worth of bottles they got at the club…it’s unclear whether these guys were sober at any point during the weekend. At least that’s one way to avoid a hangover…or guarantee to have one for the rest of 2018.

Most Amount Of Topless Girls

We always like to see groups that try to push the limit and see at what point they get tired of seeing nudity. We’re pretty sure these guys hit that point. They started one night innocently enough with some good ol’ fashioned topless beer pong. For dinner, they did a naked sushi with 4 topless waitresses and for dessert, they got a lesbian show…with 10 girls. Yes, you read that correctly, 10 girls. Bravo, you weirdos.

We invite you to try and take this title next year. Here are some ideas to get you started…

Strippers Summer 2018

Strangest Request

When you are in the bachelor party industry, you are bound to get some strange requests. It’s part of the business. This year, we had a group call up and tell us they were big Star Wars fans. They wanted to know if they could get some strippers to do a show in Princess Leia costumes. Since we’re known for making anything happen, we found some outfits and made it work. For good measure, we sent along a midget in a Yoda get up.

Puff, Puff, Pass: Everything You Need To Know About Weed Legalization In Montreal

Unless you’re one of those weirdos that’s swore off news and gets foreskin facials (I’m not kidding, it’s a real thing…look it up), you’ve probably heard that Canada has passed Bill C-45 and legalized weed. That includes all possession, distribution, and consumption of weed. Canada is now the second country in the world after Uruguay to come to their senses and let everyone get high…legally. One more excuse to get a hall pass and get some grass and ass in Montreal. Besides making Montreal even more heavenly, what does this mean for your Montreal bachelor party? We’ve gone ahead and answered some questions you might have about weed legalization in Montreal.

Can I smoke a joint in public right now?

Yes. As of October 17th, weed is legal across Canada.

Are edibles available?

Weed edibles are still not available where weed is legally sold. You won’t be able to get edibles at least for another year.

Where will I be able to smoke weed when it becomes legal?

You’ll be able to smoke weed anywhere you can smoke a cig. It’ll make Tam-Tams that much more enjoyable. Outdoor patios? No. Outside the strip club? Encouraged.

How much weed can I carry around?

You can’t walk around like it’s a Snoop Dogg video with pounds of chronic, but you’ll be able to legally carry 30 grams of dried bud.

Is there an age requirement to smoke weed?

You have to be at least 18 to buy and smoke weed. Some provinces are debating to have the minimum age set at 19, but here in Montreal it will be 18. Every member in your bachelor party group will be able to light up.

Where will I be able to buy weed in Montreal?

Just like you can only buy liquor at an “SAQ” (Québec Liquor Store), Québec will control the distribution of weed. The stores will be called SQDC (Québec Cannabis Store is a rough French translation for those that actually care.) For all the true lazy stoners out there, you can also have it delivered to you via Canada Post. Doobies and boobies anyone?

How much will weed cost in Montreal?

For a high quality strain, one gram costs about $10. Prices may vary depending on the quality and strain of the weed you buy.

The Best Summertime Montreal Events For Your Bachelor Party

Montreal has events going on every weekend during the summer to make up for its freezing winter (If it weren’t for summer, we would have been in South Beach long ago). Most events are located downtown or an Uber ride away so they are accessible no matter the size of your bachelor party. Here are the four best summertime Montreal events for your bachelor party:

Grand Prix (June 8-10)

Montreal’s Super Bowl takes places every second weekend in June. If you actually care about F1, most people don’t, the big race takes place on Sunday afternoon. Trials take place on Friday and Saturday.

Now, for the information people actually care about: the partying. The city comes alive starting Thursday with outdoor festivals and bars, but so do the prices. If you partake in the festivities, be ready to pay Vegas prices at any night club in the city. You’ll be rewarded though with one of the most fun weekends of the year. Everyone is here to p arty and have a great time so the atmosphere only adds to a bachelor party weekend.

Jazz Fest (June 28-July 7)

Montreal’s Jazz Fest is the largest jazz fest in the world and for good reason. The festival runs for a week and a half with concerts from noon to midnight. It’s ideal for a bachelor party since most of the free concerts take place in Place Des Arts, which is at the heart of downtown and where you should be staying anyway (If you’re staying off the island, stop reading immediately).

Just For Laughs (July 11-July 29)

Just For Laughs has become a mainstay on Montreal’s summertime event calendar. The two and a half week festival brings in big names such as Kevin Hart, Jerry Seinfeld, and Trevor Noah. There’s also great shows, especially the Nasty Show, that is ideal for bachelor parties. There’s no better way to get the night started then going to a Just For Laughs show. If you are in town during JFL, you have to go to at least one show.

Osheaga (August 3-5)

Canada’s answer to Coachella happens every first weekend in August and is a 15 minute Uber ride away from the downtown core. They have all sorts of different music from electronic to rap to rock from big headliners to no name bands. Osheaga is a great daytime activity for a bachelor party and it’s easy to snag day passes. Just leave the flower headband to your future ex-wife.

Maximize Your Bachelor Party House Rental in Montreal

Over the past year or so we have seen an increase in the number of people looking for short term rentals for their bachelor party (i.e. AirBnB, VRBO, Flip Key, etc…). In the past, we have poo-pooed this idea in favor of suites and hotel rooms, however the use of a house rental for a bachelor party can work out quite well if the following precautions are taken into consideration.

Make sure the house and owner are cool with bachelor parties

picture
This might seem obvious but it’s often overlooked. Just because the price and location are ideal does not mean the stay will be. Some of the so-called prime short term rentals in Montreal are run by very conservative people who will place insane restrictions or outright refuse your reservation if they find out that it’s for a bachelor party. That perfect place in Old Montreal you found might turn more into a stay at a dungeon guarded by a nagging manager. Best piece of advice: read up on the reviews and owners of the property before hand. Also, no sense in lying about the trip, 8-12 dudes don’t travel to Montreal to visit the botanical garden.

Utilize the space properly

picture

There will be lots of downtime at the house so you really need our help to maximize the space and make your stay more memorable. Most true and tried method is to throw a bunch of Montreal strippers into the mix. Why let the space go to waste, besides those girls your buddy met the other day are not coming over regardless of what he keeps saying. Here are some of our best sellers:

Legs and eggs: Two ladies come in and cook you breakfast in the buff $800+

2/4 girl show: Use your imagination for this one $600-1600

Topless beer pong: Relive your frat days, just this time with girls $800+

Make sure the house has the right amenities for a bachelor party

picture

You will end up spending more time at the house than you think. Make sure it’s got everything needed to hangout and have fun. Does it have a living room large enough to hangout? Many of the Plateau places are older than dirt and have tiny living rooms. Does it have enough beds and sofas? What good is a 4 bedroom if there are only 4 beds? Not everyone will know each other on the bachelor party nor will everyone want to be the little spoon.

Does it have WOW factor? It needs something cool to make the stay memorable: pool table, hot tub, ping pong table, stripper pole, balcony/deck to smoke or grill? If not, then perhaps a hotel suite might offer better value.

Know the location

picture

Montreal is centralized but not everywhere is ideal. Good rule of thumb is that you want to stay on the island and no farther east then St Denis, no farther west then Atwater, no father north then Bernard, and lastly no father south then the water (stay on the island). Otherwise the few dollars you tried to save will be wasted on transit, as you are not near any of the action. Also outside these zones might be too Avant Garde (really french, really gay, or both!) or too residential.

Clean up before you leave!

We know that you’re all hungover, you didn’t make the mess, and it’s not your place. BUT a 15-30 min in clean up time can save you a big headache down the road. You placed a security deposit meaning you’re on the hook. You had a hard enough time collecting from everyone before the bachelor party, imagine after. Nothing worse than having to battle over email weeks later about damages or cleaning issue when you could have addressed them in no time before you left.
