12 Jun The $25,000 Hangover: Montreal Grand Prix Recap
Two Guys, Three Days, $25,000 in Champagne
People always wonder what my job actually entails? They think that I just go out, drink with clients, party, and live the VIP life. This last Montreal Grand Prix weekend I did, in style.
Friday
It all started when two of our perennial Montreal Grand Prix guests rolled into town. These guys work hard and play harder. This year was no exception.
It all started Friday night when we bypassed the 100+ person line-up outside Globe and were escorted by the owner himself to our table. Food and drink is marked up 3-4 times its regular price to make sure the supper clubs are weeding out the pretenders and ensuring exclusivity.
We dinned on oysters and lobster (well they did, I am allergic) and our guests ordered a magnum of Cristal which appeared with four of the model-quality staff in tow. A bill creeps from manageable to insane in about 2 Magnums of Cristal. Unfortunately, 2 bottles won’t successfully whet the appetites of seemingly all the waitresses at Globe. 14 was the magic number and by the end of the night, the restaurant was not only running out of champagne and sparklers. The rest of the evening was a blur, but the first night bar tab came to well over $12,000.
Saturday

Slept all day. The manager of Globe invited us back (obviously) so I called my guests and told them we had the keys to the city. They wanted to return to Globe since it worked out so well the first night (from the photos they sent me). We rolled into Globe Saturday night like rockstars. We had the premier table in the place, even better than the actual celebrities who were there. The evening was another blur of magnums of Cristal and Dom just with more girls. I wish I could remember the rest.
Sunday
Woke up on death’s door and missed the big race. We were invited to Buonanotte (same owners of Globe) to a private party where many of the race teams and drivers were in attendance. While the champagne was flowing, some clarity ensued, and we kept it to a measly 4 magnums. Our guests had no problems keeping up, ditching me and leaving with some real stunners.
Montreal Grand Prix is always crazy and this was by far the most insane F1 weekend to date…I’m glad it’s over, but there’s always next year!
