OUR RESPONSE TO TRAVEL+LEISURE'S MONTREAL BACHELOR PARTY GUIDE

By Connected Montréal · Feb 14, 2026 · 05 MIN read

A travel magazine published a Montreal bachelor party guide that recommended admiring Gothic architecture and sipping craft cocktails at a techno club. We have notes.

Quick Summary

  • Travel+Leisure recommended Gothic-Revival basilicas as a bachelor party highlight.
  • Their hotel pick, Hotel St. James, caters to luxury couples, not group stays.
  • La Distillerie's narrow layout and high chairs make it impractical for large groups.

The Problem

In over a decade of being the bachelor party planning experts in Montreal, this might be the worst guide we've ever seen. According to Travel+Leisure, a bachelor party cares about "cobblestone streets" and "Gothic-Revival Basilica." We're willing to bet money that no bachelor party has ever stopped to admire church architecture after stumbling out of Bord'elle at 3 AM.

Of course you want to see some cultural highlights — but for most groups, those photos are just cover for what actually happened over the weekend.

Hotel St. James

Their pick for accommodation. It's one of the fanciest hotels in the city — dated interior, more Maybachs parked outside than Jay-Z's driveway. Perfect for your parents or grandparents, terrible for a bachelor party. We guarantee nobody in your group cares about "Old World elegance" or "19th century details."

La Distillerie

Their drinks are solid, we'll give them that. But the narrow layout and high chairs make it terrible for a large group. In a city with world-class restaurants, snacking on popcorn and beef jerky is like drinking cheap beer at a wine tasting.

Our Advice

Don't listen to a travel writer who Googled "Montreal cool bars" from a desk in New York. Come to us for a real bachelor party weekend. We've been on the ground for over a decade and we know exactly what works. Read our planning guide or text us: +1 514 349 6565. Visit connectedmontreal.com to start.
