THE 6 BEST HANGOVER MEALS IN MONTREAL

By Connected Montréal · Mar 6, 2026 · 06 MIN read

When you come to Montreal for a bachelor party, the mornings follow a predictable pattern: throbbing headache, regret, and an urgent need for greasy food. Montreal has you covered.

Quick Summary

  • La Banquise is open 24 hours with 30+ poutine varieties, walkable to Parc LaFontaine.
  • St. Viateur and Fairmount bagels are both open 24/7 at $1 per bagel.
  • Schwartz's catering delivers smoked meat directly to your rental, skipping the hour-long line.

Poutine — La Banquise

Anyone who's been to Montreal will tell you to try poutine. We're not sure what they sprinkle on it, but a hangover poutine brings you back to life instantly. Head to La Banquise, a Montreal institution, then walk across to Parc LaFontaine to soak in some sun. If you're feeling bold, have a beer with your meal to really clear that foggy head.

Bagels — St. Viateur

Montreal vs. New York bagels — every New Yorker will defend their own version, but you're on our turf now. Head to St. Viateur for their bagel sandwiches or go full Montrealer and grab a bag of bagels with a tub of cream cheese. The combination of doughy bread with sweet and salty flavors will have you ready for the next big night.

Brunch — L'Avenue

L'Avenue is hands down one of our favorites for brunch. The wait can be an hour on weekends, but the portions are absurdly generous — especially the pancakes. You'll have a full-grown food baby by the time you leave. Add some mimosas and you've got yourself a proper recovery.

Carb Overload — Boustan & Burger Bar

Boustan's Lebanese fast food serves up delicious shawarma, kebabs, and falafel. If you're more in the mood for a burger, Burger Bar on Crescent offers a Hangover Burger: beef patties, cheese, bacon, poutine, truffle oil, caramelized onions, and a fried egg.

Dim Sum — Chinatown

Greasy dumplings are scientifically proven (by us) to soak up remaining alcohol. You really can't go wrong with any dim sum restaurant in Chinatown on St. Laurent. Most have plenty of room for large groups.

Schwartz's Catering

When you have a pounding hangover, the last thing you want is to stand in line. Have Schwartz's legendary smoked meat catered directly to your house. Unlike those late-night tequila shots, this is a decision you won't regret.

Location Highlights

  • Rue Rachel, Plateau-Mont-Royal: LA BANQUISE — 994 RUE RACHEL EST, OPEN 24 HOURS, 30+ POUTINE VARIETIES
  • Mile End, Montreal: ST. VIATEUR BAGEL — 263 RUE SAINT-VIATEUR OUEST, OPEN 24/7
