MONTREAL BACHELOR PARTY PLANNING CHECKLIST: 90 DAYS TO GAME TIME
By Connected Montréal · Apr 07, 2026 · 08 MIN read
Connected Montréal has seen what happens when bachelor parties wing it — and what happens when they follow a system. After 400+ weekends, this is the planning checklist that separates chaotic trips from legendary ones.
Quick Summary
- Start planning 90 days out. Accommodation in peak season (June-August) books up 60-90 days in advance.
- Collect money upfront. The single biggest source of bachelor party conflict is money collected after the fact.
- Book restaurants and activities before nightlife. Venue reservations for groups of 10+ require 2-4 weeks lead time.
Montreal Bachelor Party Planning Checklist: The 90-Day System
The difference between a bachelor party that runs smoothly and one that falls apart is not budget or group size. It is planning. Specifically, it is having a timeline that sequences decisions in the right order so nothing gets bottlenecked.
We have refined this checklist over 400+ bachelor party weekends in Montreal. It works for groups of 6 and groups of 25. It works for budget weekends and premium ones. Print it, screenshot it, send it to the group chat. This is the framework.
90-60 Days Out: Foundation
Consult the groom. This sounds obvious but 30% of the best men we work with skip this step. Find out what he actually wants. Some guys want a rager. Some want a steakhouse and a poker night. Do not project your ideal weekend onto his bachelor party.
Set the dates. Friday-Sunday is the standard format. Thursday-Saturday works if your group can swing a Thursday flight. Avoid holiday weekends in summer — hotel prices spike 40-60% and restaurants are booked solid. For the optimal timing, see our guide on why August is the best month.
Lock the guest list. Get hard commitments, not maybes. Every "maybe" that becomes a "no" two weeks before the trip throws off accommodation math, dinner reservations, and activity bookings. Set a deadline and enforce it.
Set the budget. Three tiers work best: $500-800/person (budget), $800-1,300/person (mid-range), $1,300-2,000+/person (premium). Poll the group anonymously if you have to. The budget tier in Montreal still delivers an excellent weekend — see our complete cost breakdown.
Collect money. This is the single most important item on this checklist. Collect the full per-person amount upfront, or at minimum 75% as a deposit. The number one source of bachelor party drama is money. Best men who collect upfront have zero issues. Best men who chase payments after the trip have nightmares. Use Venmo, Zelle, or an e-transfer — no excuses.
60-30 Days Out: Booking Phase
Book accommodation. This is the first booking you make because it dictates everything else — neighborhood, walking routes, proximity to venues. For groups of 8-15, a Plateau or Griffintown Airbnb is the standard play. For the full neighborhood comparison, see our neighborhood guide. For the houses we manage directly, reach out to our team.
Book flights. Direct flights from NYC, Boston, Chicago, and Toronto are under 2 hours. Book as a group if possible — same flight, same energy from the moment you leave. Fares from the Eastern Seaboard average $150-300 round trip.
Book dinner reservations. This is not optional for groups of 10+. Montreal restaurants that handle large parties require advance booking. Our group dining guide lists 15 venues that actually welcome bachelor parties. Call (do not use OpenTable for large groups) and confirm in French if possible — it gets better tables.
Book daytime activities. Go-karting at SH Karting, jet boating on the Lachine Rapids, axe throwing — these require advance reservations for groups. Most activities book 2-3 weeks ahead in peak season. See our activities guide for the full list.
Coordinate nightlife. Contact promoters or a concierge service for club reservations and VIP access. Walk-up groups at premium venues wait 30-60 minutes on peak nights. Pre-arranged entry eliminates this entirely.
30-7 Days Out: Details Phase
Create a shared itinerary. Use Google Docs, a group chat pinned message, or a simple PDF. Include: flight times, accommodation address and check-in details, dinner reservation times and addresses, activity meeting points, and a general nightlife plan. Do not over-schedule — leave buffer between events.
Confirm all reservations. Call every restaurant, activity provider, and accommodation 2 weeks before arrival. Re-confirm 3 days before. Cancellations happen, especially during busy season.
Handle transportation logistics. Montreal is a walkable city for nightlife, but you will need rides from the airport and possibly to daytime activities outside the core. Book airport transfers in advance. Download Uber — it works well in Montreal.
Pack list reminder to the group. Passports (for US visitors), comfortable walking shoes, one going-out outfit (most venues enforce a dress code — no shorts, no flip-flops, no athletic wear), and a jacket if visiting November-April.
Designate a second-in-command. The best man cannot do everything alone for a full weekend. Assign one other person to handle logistics if you need to step away. The groom should have zero responsibilities.
Day-Of Checklist
Arrival day: Check in, drop bags, walk the neighborhood. First stop should be casual — a pub, a terrasse, or a brewery. Do not go hard on night one. The goal Friday evening is a solid dinner and a manageable night out. Save the big night for Saturday.
Saturday: This is the main event. Daytime activity, group dinner, and the full nightlife circuit. Review the itinerary with the group at breakfast. Confirm all reservations by noon. Make sure everyone has the dinner restaurant address and arrival time.
Sunday departure: Schedule a group brunch or hangover meal. Our hangover meal guide has the six best recovery spots. Build in 2.5 hours between checkout and flight departure for airport transit and security.
